Hi Ellen,

Do you have any experience with teens and ebooks? My first YA novel MORTAL GHOST is available in multiple eformats (Feedbooks and elsewhere) but I get the feeling that most of my readers are adults.

So ... what exactly are you able to buy and read on the device?

The reason I am asking is because I like being able to read new books (or at least very recently published) and all of them seem to be coming from eReader, Fictionwise, Mobipocket and the like.

Reading old classics I can get free off the internet isn't why I'm looking to get an e-book reader.

JetBook seems a little disingenious saying "but at the same time we have found that 90% of free sources (sources containing almost every needed book on Internet) use either TXT or DOC format."

I don't read because I need to, I read because I like to and that means being able to read new books by new authors. Most new books (that are legally obtained) have some sort of DRM file management in place.

I love the Sony reader. Wasn’t there a more expensive leather cover available from Sony, if you’re into that sort of thing? And you don’t need a charger, it charges just fine over regular USB.

Might I suggest dumping the crappy Sony PC reader software and getting Calibre?
http://calibre.kovidgoyal.net/

Michael,

I have looked at Calibre and I must be having a brain cramp. It's a bit confusing to me and I haven't looked at the tutorials. Maybe I should since most of my attempts at formating books for the Sony reader have been dismal at best.

Shaz,

I understand the budget situation. I would love to be be able to buy every device that catches my eye. Have you considered buying a refurbished reader? They are cheaper and on some sites you can even get an extended warranty.

Thanks for wishing me luck David. I have been looking and hoping that I can find a cure. So far no luck, but I am hopeful.

Have you looked in the mobileread forums for help? A couple of people had bricked their reader before, but they found ways to revive it. good luck!

I am convinced--I'm going to buy a PRS-505, as soon as I can figure out how to budget for it! :-)
